Brief Introduction to Crane Rail Square Steel

The crane running rails include crane rails, railway rails and crame rail square steel. The top of the rail is convex and the bottom is a flat plate with a certain width, which increases the contact surface with the foundation. The cross section of the rail is mostly I-shaped and has good bending strength. Crane rail square steel can be regarded as a flat-top rail. Due to the large wear on the wheel, crane rail square steel is generally only used for cranes with small lifting speed, slow running speed and infrequent work.  However, Glory Steel could offer crane rail square steel with R corner to reduce the abrasion of the crane wheels. The rails are usually rolled from steel material containing carbon and manganese (C = 0.5% – 0.8%, Mn = 0.6% – 1.5%). The typical material for the crane track is U71Mn steel. Crane rail square steel is mainly made of square steel bar or flat steel bar of Q345B steel material.
The crane rail is used as a special section rail for cranes and trolleys. The standard lengths are 9m, 9.5m, 10m, 10.5m, 11m, 11.5m, 12m ,12.5m, etc. Common specifications are QU70, QU80, QU100, QU120, and the number after the QU indicates the rail head width. Railway rails are divided into two types, namely heavy rail and light rail. The rail specifications are expressed by the nominal weight per meter length. Rails with a weight greater than 30KG/M are heavy rails. Standard lengths are available in 12.5 m and 25 m sizes. The light rail is a rail of no more than 30KG/M, usually 5-12 meters in length. The steel for light rail is mostly killed steel and semi-killed steel of ordinary carbon structural steel. In order to improve the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the rail, low-alloy structural steels with alloying elements such as Mn, Si and P have been used in recent years.
