long rail trains
China has successfully completed its first export of long rail trains, marking an important step forward in railway logistics equipment manufacturing. On the 23rd, a 400-meter long rail train developed by CRRC Qiqi Group for global mining giant Rio Tinto was shipped from Dalian Port to Australia.
CRRC Qiqi Group, whose core business focuses on railway wagons and specialized rail vehicles, supplies products to more than 62 countries and regions worldwide, including Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil. The export highlights the company’s growing presence in international heavy-haul and mining rail markets.
The 400-meter long rail train was developed by CRRC Qiqi Group’s Qiche Company, in collaboration with its Shenyang subsidiary. Initiated in early 2019, the project was designed specifically for Rio Tinto as an alternative solution for seamless rail transportation, enabling safer handling, reduced rail joints, and higher efficiency in long-distance rail delivery.
This successful export demonstrates China’s capability to design and manufacture advanced long rail train systems that meet the demanding requirements of large-scale mining and heavy-duty railway infrastructure projects.
