Advantages, Disadvantages and Applications of Flat Steel

Flat steel refers to steel products with a width of 12-300mm, a thickness of 3-60mm, a rectangular cross-section and blunt edges. Flat steel can be finished steel, and can also be used as blanks for welded pipes and thin slabs for stacked thin plates. As a finished material, flat steel can be used to make hoops, tools, and connecting and unloading parts, and it can be used as structural parts and escalators in buildings.

Advantages and disadvantages of flat steel

Advantages:

Flat steel is rolled with negative deviation, but delivered according to actual weight, and the utilization rate is 1-5 percentage points higher than that of steel plate.

Flat steel can be produced in a fixed thickness, fixed width, and fixed length according to users, saves processes, reduces labor and material consumption, and also reduces processing consumption of raw materials, saving time, save labor and materials. The products have been professionally used in steel structure manufacturing, machinery manufacturing, automobile industry, mining machinery, hoisting machinery and other industrial materials.

Disadvantages:

The patchwork pattern is uncoordinated, the colors are obviously different, and the edges and corners are missing.

The sleeve cutting does not conform, the seam width is inconsistent, and the horizontal seam is not straight.

Features of flat steel

1. The product specification is special. The thickness is 8-50㎜, the width is 150-625㎜, the length is 5-15 meters, and the product specifications are relatively dense, which can meet the needs of users. It can be used instead of the middle plate and can be welded directly without cutting.

2. The surface of the product is smooth. In the process, the high-pressure water descaling process is used for the second time to ensure the smooth surface of the steel.

3. The sides are vertical and the edges and corners are cleared. The second vertical rolling in the finish rolling ensures good verticality of both sides, clear corners and good edge surface quality.

4. The scale of the product is accurate, the three-point difference, the level difference is better than the steel plate standard; the product is flat and straight, and the plate shape is good. Finishing rolling adopts continuous rolling process, automatic loop automatic control, to ensure that no stacking steel does not pull steel, product dimensional accuracy is high, tolerance range, three point difference, the same strip difference, sickle bend and other parameters are better than the plate, and the plate straightness is good. Cold cutting, high precision length measurement.

Main product

Section steel is one of the four major types of steel (plate, tube, mold, wire). According to the section shape, the section steel is divided into simple section steel and complex section steel (section steel). The former refers to square steel, round steel, flat steel, Angle steel, hexagonal steel, etc. The latter refers to I-beam steel, channel steel, rail, window frame steel, bending section steel, etc.

Square steel – square section of steel, hot rolled, forged and cold drawn three, hot rolled round steel diameter 5-250㎜, of which 5-9㎜ commonly used to draw steel wire raw materials, called wire; Because of the tray supply is also called hot rolled wire. Forged round steel diameter is thicker, used as shaft billet. Cold drawn round steel diameter 3-100㎜, high dimensional accuracy.

Angle steel – graded Angle steel and unequal Angle steel two kinds. The specifications of the Angle steel are expressed by the dimensions of the side length and the side thickness. Usually produced Angle steel specifications are 2-20, that is, the number of centimeters of the side length. For example, the No. 5 equal Angle steel refers to the Angle steel with a side length of 5cm (50mm). The same Angle steel usually has 2-7 different edge thicknesses.

Process flow

The working principle of the flat steel finishing machine is to pre-calibrate and finally level the thickness direction of the cold flat steel wool with two sets of leveling wheels staggered up and down. The width direction is squeezed by a pair of finishing wheels arranged relative to each other, so that the width is compressed to reach the expected parameter, and the compression amount is adjustable. 5 staggered straightening wheels are used to straighten the width. The system is mainly composed of control box, finishing roller, pre-leveling unit, finishing unit and straightening unit.

Its production process can be summarized as: pre-leveling → finishing → straightening → post-leveling. Flat steel/a/b is steel with a width of 12-300mm, a thickness of 4-60mm, a rectangular cross-section and slightly pure edges. Flat steel can be finished steel, and can also be used as blanks for welded pipes and thin slabs for stacked thin plates. Main application: Flat steel can be used as a finished material to make hoop iron, tools and mechanical parts, and it can be used as a structural part of a house frame and an escalator in a building. Flat steel is divided into two types according to its shape: flat spring flat steel and single-sided double-groove spring flat steel. Hot-rolled spring flat steel is mainly used to manufacture leaf springs on machinery such as automobiles, tractors, and railway transportation.

Application of flat steel

1. The spring flat steel is made by converter smelting process. Compared with the prior art, it has the following advantages and positive effects: the flat steel is smelted by a converter, mainly using molten iron as raw material, the harmful elements in the molten iron are less, and the quality of the flat steel produced is guaranteed.

2. It is used for grounding of buildings.

3. Flat steel can be finished steel, and can also be used as blanks for welded pipes and thin slabs for stacked thin plates. As finished material, flat steel can be used to make hoops, tools and mechanical parts. In construction, it is used as structural parts of house frames. Spring flat steel is made by converter smelting process.
