quality of stainless steel round bar
Stainless steel round bar is a common material used to manufacture a variety of machine parts, tools, and equipment. It is usually made of stainless steel material, so it is corrosion-resistant and high-temperature resistant. The diameter and length of stainless steel round bars can be customized and processed according to specific needs, with common diameters ranging from a few millimeters to tens of millimeters. This material has a wide range of applications in various industrial sectors, including automotive manufacturing, construction, aerospace, chemical industry, etc.
Stainless steel round steel is a type of section steel and a bar. Its cross-section is uniformly circular and its general length is 4M. The surface is smooth and there are no scarring issues. But if you want to purchase high-quality steel, you must still measure the quality. But how to check its quality?
Observe the surface: Check whether the surface of the stainless steel round bar is smooth and whether there are unevenness, cracks, bubbles and other defects.
Color inspection: Stainless steel should appear bright silvery white with no obvious color difference or rust.
Touch the surface: Touch the surface with your hands and it should feel smooth with no obvious unevenness or rust.
Use tools such as micrometers and outside micrometers to measure diameter and length to ensure they meet specifications.
Check the roundness of the round steel. It should be a standard circle with no obvious deviation.
Whether the chemical composition of stainless steel round steel meets the standards can be checked through chemical analysis methods, such as spectral analysis or chemical reagent testing. This includes checking its alloy composition to ensure it has the required corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.
Tensile test: Use a tensile testing machine to test the tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of stainless steel round steel.
Hardness test: Use a hardness tester (such as Rockwell hardness tester, Barcol hardness tester, etc.) to test the hardness of stainless steel round steel.
After all, it is made of stainless steel, so it is still necessary to do a basic magnetic test. This is currently a relatively simple method to confirm the quality of stainless steel round steel. Because stainless steel is non-magnetic, it will become slightly magnetic after cold working.
If it is high-quality round steel, one of its more important features is its inherent corrosion resistance to both concentrated nitric acid and dilute nitric acid. This is also one of the places where it is very different from other metal materials and alloy materials. If it is high carbon steel, such as 440 steel, it may be corroded during the nitric acid point test.
If you want to distinguish between ordinary carbon steel and stainless steel round steel, you can also directly use copper sulfate solution to conduct point tests. Before testing, it is necessary to remove all grease and contaminants from the test area, then simply polish it with a soft grinding cloth, and then use copper sulfate solution for testing. If it is stainless steel, there will be no copper precipitation on its surface.
Through the above inspection methods, the quality and performance of stainless steel round bars can be comprehensively evaluated to ensure that they meet the requirements and can meet application needs.
Glorysteelwork can sell various types of stainless steel round bars, such as: SUS303F, 430, SUS304F, 416F, 201Cu, 316L, 304, 630, 309S, 202, 304L, 410, 420, Bright 201, 904L, etc. If you have any needs please get in touch.
