Stainless steel forgings refer to objects in which stainless steel materials are subjected to pressure and are shaped into the required shape or appropriate compression force through plastic deformation. This force is typically achieved through the use of a hammer or pressure. Forging can eliminate defects such as loose as-cast metal produced during the smelting process and optimize the microstructure. At the same time, due to the preservation of metal streamlines, the mechanical properties of forgings are generally better than castings of the same material. For important parts with severe working conditions, forgings are mostly used, except for simple shapes that can be rolled plates, profiles or welded parts.
In order to save energy, reduce environmental pollution and extend the service life of some components of the power plant, their materials are being switched to stainless steel forgings. Some equipment in the smelter works in harsh conditions. Since parts made of ordinary materials are severely corroded when working in a corrosive atmosphere, stainless steel forgings are being used to extend the service life of the equipment.
Although the mechanical pulping production process does not use chemicals, the degree of corrosion is light, but the paper industry pays attention to cleanliness, its mechanical equipment such as the use of ordinary steel manufacturing, the use of a long time will inevitably produce rust, thereby polluting the pulp, so widely used stainless steel manufacturing. In order to reduce pollution and facilitate maintenance in the process of paper production, such as cooling towers, acid buckets, cooking POTS and other equipment and pipes used in the papermaking process are also widely made of stainless steel.
At present, the world’s emissions of sulfur dioxide, about 140 million tons per year, seriously damage people’s physical and mental health. The device for smelting sulfur dioxide is made of stainless steel forgings, and there is a lot of dust in the air, especially in dusty workplaces (factories, mines). In order to reduce the damage of dust to people, the dust removal device also uses a large number of stainless steel forgings, in the sewage treatment process of cities and factories, due to the impurities in the water and the added chemicals will corrode the water treatment equipment. In order to extend the service life of sewage treatment equipment, non-inductive steel is also used.

The oxygen content and chloride ion concentration in seawater, the relative flow rate and flow pattern of seawater and materials, the pollution of seawater, and sea organisms all have an impact on corrosion. Common forms of corrosion include uniform corrosion, pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. The medium environment of seawater desalination is degassed seawater and fresh seawater. Stainless steel forgings have been successfully used in seawater desalination pumps, shafts, shells, impellers, rods, and evaporator tank separators and other components. Stainless steel forgings are also widely used in seawater development machinery and structures in contact with seawater.
