ASCE 30 rail is a light steel rail standard developed by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Also known as ASCE 30 lb rail, 30 ASCE rail, or 30 lb rail, it is widely used in light railway systems, industrial tracks, mining lines, and agricultural railways across the United States, South America, and other regions.
Compared with heavy-duty rails, ASCE 30 crane rail features a smaller section and lighter weight, 30 lb/yard (15.2 kg/m) making it ideal for short-distance rail lines and low-load transport. However, its smaller gauge offers less stability and smoothness when navigating curves, which means it requires more careful operation and maintenance. Because of its compact design, it is easier to install, relocate, and maintain, which significantly reduces construction and operational costs.
