Material Grades & Standards of Pressure Vessel Steel Plate
Pressure vessel and boiler plates are hot-rolled carbon steel and low-alloy heat-resistant steel plates used to manufacture key components such as boiler drums, shells, headers, and heat exchangers.
They are designed for excellent weldability, cold bending performance, and elevated-temperature strength, meeting the demanding requirements of medium and high-pressure applications below 350°C.
The material typically contains 0.16%–0.26% carbon, providing the perfect balance between strength and ductility. Depending on the operating temperature and pressure, two main categories are available:
- Carbon steel plates for medium-temperature pressure applications
- Low-alloy heat-resistant plates (Cr-Mo, Cr-Mo-V grades) for high-temperature and high-pressure service
