What is a Finned Tube?
A finned tube is a heat exchange element designed to enhance thermal efficiency. Fins increase the external or internal surface area, improving heat transfer in applications such as industrial boilers, wall-hung boilers, and heat exchangers.
Fins can be assembled in different ways:
- Manual Assembly: Fins are pressed individually by hand. While simple, this method provides limited press force, leading to weaker bonding that may loosen over time.
- Mechanical Assembly: Fins are pressed using finning machines with mechanical impact or hydraulic pressure. This method allows stronger interference and high bonding strength, reducing the risk of loosening. Mechanical assembly provides higher productivity, though it may require skilled operators and advanced maintenance.
